Broom with Sparkles

Daily Prophet – July 8, 2025

Instructions from Tie Dye:

Please wait to remove the tie dyed item from the bag until the following day, so the dye can set in. Using gloves, rinse the item, then remove the rubber bands and wash the item in cold water - separately – do NOT put it in the wash with other clothing/items.

Catapults – Pastel Pink

The Catapults started the day off strong with our creature crafts, beginning work on a monster book of monsters and pygmy puffs. We then headed to the crafts center, where our campers continued practicing their sewing skills decorating tote bags. We played some close games of quidditch and cooled off during lunch. The Catapults had their second science center before getting ice cream and practicing our skit for Thursday. Tomorrow is camp t-shirt day, so please be sure to have your Catapult wear their blue camp shirt!

Tornado 1 – Peach Pygmy Puffs

The Peach Pygmy Puffs had a lot of fun today! We did challenge course for the morning- ziplining, doing the cargo wall, and more! At crafts at the end of the day, we finished up what we started yesterday, sewing buttons onto bags and decorating the bags further. Our group did a walk around camp and enjoyed watermelon slices at the end! Tomorrow is camp picture day, so please remind your girls to bring their shirts to camp as there will not be extras for them to wear if they forget. We can’t wait to see you all tomorrow!

Tornado 2 – Purple Pegasus

Our Purple Pegasus group enjoyed a lot of stations today! At crafts we learned how to sew on a button, making cute tote bags! We look forward to finishing our bags later this week! Then we went to the science station and had a fun time making catapults out of spoons and popsicle sticks. Launching our golden snitches as far as we could, we had a friendly competition! It was a hot day for a watermelon hike, but thankfully we made it and enjoyed delicious, fresh watermelon at the end. After lunch, we had a great afternoon at the Archery station, and we learned how to shoot a bow and arrow! A fun “fieldtrip” day to all the stations! Please remember to bring in your white shirt in a plastic bag for tie-dye station tomorrow! Also, wear your blue camp shirt tomorrow too!

Bats 1 - Fiery Phoenixes

Today the Phoenixes embraced the heat and had another spectacular day of camp! We learned some fun facts about each other and assembled a pet phoenix before making magical bubbles at Science. After a rousing game of quidditch, we constructed ladder bracelets with our OWL. We ended our day with a much-needed ice cream treat and practicing for tomorrow’s morning flag duty.

Bats 2 – HippoGriffs

Today the HippoGriffs had an ice cream social in the shade to escape from the heat! We also made swaps for our swap meet on Friday and we continued with our sewing journey! We hit up the challenge course after lunch and had a wonderful time! Please be sure to wear your camp shirt tomorrow for pictures!

Sunrays 1 – Minty Mermaids

The Minty Mermaids had a craftastic Tuesday at camp! We started the day making beautiful tie dyed creations, made our swaps and beaded bracelets, and learned to sew buttons onto tote bags. We are looking forward to working on our bags more tomorrow! We also talked about bioluminescent animals and made glow in the dark jars to hold our captured pixies! Please remember to wear your camp shirt for pictures tomorrow and to pull your hair back, as we will be going to the archery range.

Sunrays 2 – Lavender Lions

The Lavender Lions had a fantastic second day at camp! We started our day with baby bows and slingshots over at archery! We then headed to our unit to make bird feeders and eat lunch. We had a special treat after lunch, ICE CREAM! We found Scabbers as we were preparing our skit for Thursday and then we got crafty at tie dye! Make sure to read tie dye instructions at the top of the page! So excited for another great day!

Rangers

For day two, the Rangers started their day by playing games on the hill next to Ashgrove. Next, we practiced fire safety at Ashgrove and had fun making s’mores and hot dogs at the fire pit for lunch. We also ate watermelon before going to science where we made catapults. Before we closed the day with taking down the flag, we played quidditch and songs and games.

Pixies – All Powerful Pixies

Day 2 was packed with fun and enchantment for the All-Powerful Pixies! The girls began their day with a nature scavenger hunt, exploring the outdoors like true Hogwarts Herbologists. Next, we crafted edible magic wands, made from pretzels and plenty of imagination. In the afternoon, we learned campfire safety and then joined the Rangers for a cookout, then we honed our wizard dueling skills in archery. In science class, we mixed up some magical reactions, and then everyone got creative making colorful tie-dye shirts. Our day ended with a sweet treat- nice cold ice cream to reward a spell-tacular day at Camp Crossroads!
