The Daily Prophet & Magical Happenings - July 7th, 2025

Instructions from Tie Dye:

Please wait to remove the tie dyed item from the bag until the following day, so the dye can set in. Using gloves, rinse the item, then remove the rubber bands and wash the item in cold water - separately – do NOT put it in the wash with other clothing/items.

Catapults – Pastel Pink

The Catapults had a jam-packed first day at camp. We led the morning flag, and then headed right to science, where we made mile-high and unpoppable bubbles! After an early lunch, we spent most of day at challenge course, riding zip lines and flying monkeys. Finally, we ate lots of tasty watermelon while tie-dyeing before heading home to the sweet air conditioning.

Tornado 1 – Peach Pygmy Puffs

We had an amazing first day at camp! We started off our day with a game of Quidditch and then made some big bubbles in science. We had a frozen treat after lunch and practiced our skit for Friday. Then, our wonderful AIT led us in an activity she made for us. Lastly, we did something super fun at the crafts station. We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow! Don’t forget lanyards and tie-dye shirts if you haven’t already brought them.

Tornado 2 – Purple Pegasus

We had a great start to camp! We spent some time getting to know each other by asking the Crystal Ball questions before Flag Ceremony, and then once we got to our pavilion, we played a Name Game called “Train Wreck.” Then we made an owl friend out of yarn! This owl can come back to camp on Thursday for our Owl Day, or they can bring a different owl. Owls will go home on Tuesday. Our first center visit was Games, and we got to play real life Quidditch! We rode brooms, searched for the Golden Snitch, and had a blast! After lunch, we started making our SWAPS to share at the Friday Swapmeet, then went to science to discover how to make bubbles. Today was also our ice cream day, and that was a nice, cool treat! We also started planning our skit! Can’t wait for tomorrow! Remember your name lanyards every day!

Bats 1 - Fiery Phoenixes

The Fiery Phoenixes started our week of mischief and merriment strong! We had a scavenger hunt tour of camp, checking out all the sites from the tornado shelter to the beautiful butterfly garden, and ending with a delicious (and magically enormous!) fresh, cold watermelon. Colorful tie dyes were made (see your welcome email for instructions!), and a blazing phoenix craft was started. The rain didn’t dampen our spirits—we used it to start diffusing our colors in the phoenix craft! Our afternoon closed out with archery practice and making more new friends with games and crafts at the sports field.

Bats 2

Bats 2 started off the week with some archery and slingshot practice. We also played quidditch and practiced some sewing skills with buttons on a tote bag. We finished off the day at science and are super excited for character day tomorrow. Also, tie dye is coming up so make sure to send in 100% cotton shirts by Wednesday if you want to tie dye!

Sunrays 1 – Minty Mermaids

The Minty Mermaids had a fantastic first day of camp. We started with the challenge course, made marble key chains and worked on leaving no trace, communication, and using resources wisely to make a fairy house. We finished the day with a rousing game of quidditch. If your mermaid brought in a shirt for tie dye, they would have been collected today. If you did not bring it in, please send in a 100% cotton shirt for your girl to tie dye tomorrow (Tuesday).

Sunrays 2 – Lavender Lions

The Lavender Lions had a GREAT first day at camp! We started in crafts with sewing buttons onto totes and then headed over to games to play some Quidditch. Then we made a trail mix full of goodies to get us through the week with snacks! After that, we headed to science and made some UNPOPABLE BUBBLES! We went back to our unit and made BIFFY sniffies to make the bathroom experience slightly more enjoyable! We finished our day with challenge course & team building! Tomorrow we will be tie dying! Make sure to send your camper with a 100% cotton white item to tie dye! If you already sent one with your camper, we have it and will give it to them tomorrow! We will send camp shirts home today, please make sure your camper wears the shirt for photos on Wednesday. Looking forward to an amazing week!

Rangers

The Rangers had a great day at camp. We started off the day by hiking to our home base, Eagle’s Nest. We went over the schedule and then had a fun game of Four Cabins. After stopping by Eagle’s Nest, we went to Crafts to learn how to sew and started the creation of our very own bags. After having lunch on the porch outside Crafts, we went and created some tie-dye shirts. There were many cool designs to choose from, and we all had a great time creating the shirts. We walked over to the amphitheater and played a few more games there. Next at science, we created our own bubbles with hand-made bubble wands. We came back to our hill to play a few more games before closing out the day. We look forward to seeing all the boys tomorrow!

Pixies – All Powerful Pixies

The Pixies had a magical first day at camp. We started with a herbology lesson, where we watched white carnations transform into all the colors of the rainbow. By the end of the week, they will each have a colorful magic bouquet to bring home! At crafts, we learned how to thread a needle and sew buttons, and will be coming home with their own needle, threader, and tote bag to continue to practice at home. In the afternoon, we revealed hidden pictures on magic paper, learned to ride broomsticks on the quidditch pitch, and played parachute games. We ended our day with care of magical creatures and are now certified to take care of all manners of magical beasts from unicorns to hippogriffs. Tomorrow, we will be going to a cookout with the Rangers, so no need to pack lunch unless they don’t like burgers, hot dogs, and chips. We also will be doing tie dye tomorrow, so please pack the kids with a labeled white 100% cotton shirt in a labeled plastic bag. Looking forward to more magical adventures tomorrow!!
