The Daily Prophet Tuesday 2024

Broom with Sparkles

The Daily Prophet & Magical Happenings - July 9th, 2024

Instructions from Science Center for Care of Herbology Orbs:

Store in a cool dry place. Remember: the seeds will start sprouting when they get wet. Throw in your own yard before rain. Note: It works best if you hold on to it until the following spring. Then watch them grow!

Instructions for Tie Dye:

Please wait to remove the Tie Dyed item from the bag until the following day, so that the dye can set in. Using gloves, rinse the item, then remove the rubber bands and wash the item in cold water separately-- do NOT put it in the wash with other clothing/items.

Catapults - Hot Pink Hippogriffs

We started the day very crafty. We worked on our SWAPS in the unit, then headed up to crafts to make some adorable bags. From there, it was back to our unit for skit practice, lunch, and a rousing game of mafia. After cooling our heels in the unit, it was out into the sun for archery and slingshots. On our way to headquarters for some much deserved ice cream, we stumbled across Scabbers and earned some jellybeans! We ended our day with more skit practice and closing flag ceremony! A hot, but successful day!

Tornado 1 - Green Frogs

We had a great 2nd day full of lots of amazing center activities! A small group of our Green Frogs did an awesome job leading our flag ceremony this morning! We started our morning on the obstacle course and enjoyed ziplining! The center leaders complimented our group for our impressive teamwork and positivity! We then enjoyed eating lunch and then headed over to participate in quidditch and parachute games. At outdoor skills, we enjoyed making s’mores and pitching tents. We were then crafty making picture frame holders and wands at crafts and had a very sweet ending to our day with eating ice cream! We will pass out our camp t-shirts tomorrow for our girls to put on when they arrive for our group picture in the morning!

Tornado 2 - Turquoise Storm Clouds

We were very busy Storm Clouds today! We visited crafts, science, and did a unit STEM challenge this morning to keep cool. This afternoon, we visited outdoor skills and made s’mores, brainstormed for our skit, and played parachute games in the shade. Please remind your campers to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate tonight!!! Tomorrow, we will have Challenge Course in the morning; please have your camper dress appropriately for the activities. It is Camp Shirt Day also, please have your camper wear their red camp shirt.

Bats 1 - Lavender Fwoopers

The Lavender Fwoopers had a very hot 2nd day of camp. We started at science and learned our Dragon names along with looking at the pH of different substances. Then we tie dyed our shirts, which was super fun. Then we made finger puppets with our OWL Riley. We went on a crazy hike to find our watermelon which was very delicious! We ended our day making s’mores at outdoor skills and learned how to set up a tent. We're super excited to see what fun things we will do tomorrow.

(Remember to bring your camp shirt! We will be taking our picture tomorrow!)

Bats 2 - Blue Morpho Butterflies

We had a hot but fun Tuesday! We started the day with delicious s'mores, then played a rousing game of Quidditch. The butterflies crafted some magical flapping butterflies and followed clues on our watermelon hike. The watermelon was very refreshing! We finished up our day at crafts making magic wands and picture frames. Please remind your kiddos to hydrate and wear their camp shirts tomorrow! Fly Butterflies Fly!

Bats 3 - Chocolate Frogs

The Chocolate Frogs had another great day at camp! They made delicious s'mores at Outdoor Skills and magical potions at the science station. The Choc. Frogs also made their own wands and challenged themselves at the challenge course. To top it all off, they found Scabbers by the entrance to the challenge course and earned some tasty jelly beans!

Sunrays 1 - Purple Potions

The Purple Potions had a great second day of camp! We started our day with Tie-Dye, making marvelous colorful creations. We then searched high and low for all the colors of the rainbow occurring naturally in nature. We had a blast making dragon snot in science and playing parachute games with Starbuck and Firestar. We then went on a hike to find a prize of juicy, cold watermelon back at our unit. Finally, we practiced our skit and flag ceremony skills for us to prepare for later in the week! We are looking forward to water games on Thursday so make sure to send a change of clothes with your camper if you haven't already. 😊

Sunrays 2 - Red Dragons

We had such a fun day today at camp! We did archery, slingshots, had ice cream with a variety of sprinkles, and created a wonderful and unique tie dye t-shirt.

Care instructions for the tie dye t-shirt: leave in bag overnight, rinse in cold water until it runs clear and finally wash alone in the washing machine.

Remember to have your camper wear their camp t-shirt tomorrow.

Sunrays 3 - Green Griffins

The Green Griffins had a full day of excitement on their second day of camp! They exercised their creativity by making leaf prints, painting rocks, and creating beautiful tie-dyed designs. They also practiced leaving no trace principles while exploring camp and working on their detective skills to solve clues in order to find a sweet treat. Finally, they honed their target practice skills with sling shots and archery. Please remember that all campers should wear their red camp shirts tomorrow!

Rangers - Pastel Pink Power Rangers

The boys had lots of fun today at camp. We played Quidditch and parachute games in the morning at Songs and Games, and then learned fire safety with the Pixies to make hot dogs and s'mores. At Science, we learned how to read invisible messages and got to make Dragon Snot. We even got to take home our very own dragons! We were excited to get to do closing flag in the afternoon. The boys are super excited for the animal program tomorrow and to get shaved ice afterwards! We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Pixies - Orange Owls

The Pixies had a great time today! To start off our morning, we did crafts and then tie-dyed some shirts and pillowcases. After that, we went to crafts and colored in some tote bags with our initials. For lunch, the Rangers let us come have a cookout with them! We were stuffed after our hotdogs and s'mores. After we had lunch, we went to science where we read invisible messages and even took home some of our own baby dragons. After everything, we did a scavenger hunt for the rat Scabbers! In exchange for returning him to his owner, we got jellybeans as a reward. We're super excited for the rest of the week!!
