The Daily Prophet Friday 2024
The Daily Prophet & Magical Happenings - July 12th, 2024
Instructions from Science Center for Care of Herbology Orbs:
Store in a cool dry place. Remember: the seeds will start sprouting when they get wet. Throw in your own yard before rain. Note: It works best if you hold on to it until the following spring. Then watch them grow!
Instructions for Tie Dye:
Please wait to remove the Tie Dyed item from the bag until the following day, so that the dye can set in. Using gloves, rinse the item, then remove the rubber bands and wash the item in cold water separately-- do NOT put it in the wash with other clothing/items.
Catapults - Hot Pink Hippogriffs
It was a rainy last day at camp today, but that didn't stop the Catapults! We performed our recreation of a Harry Potter scene for the camp during skits and swapped our mini Harry Potter books; they were very popular! After lunch, we found the missing snitch in a custom Harry Potter-themed escape room and got even more wet in a water war to finish off the day. We had a great week at camp, and we hope to see you all next year (maybe some as OWLS)!
Tornado 1 - Green Frogs
Happy Friday! We knocked the two skits out of the park. The girls are amazing creators and actors. Swap time was in the rain but it did not stop the girls from trading swaps and making new friends. Back at camp we enjoyed singing popular songs, playing in rain showers, and making god's eyes and washcloth owls. We ended the camp time with each scout sharing a large group song and flag ceremony. We can't wait to see your scout back next year!
Tornado 2 - Turquoise Storm Clouds
We had a soggy, but fun last day. Our day started with our skit. The Storm Clouds spent the week developing an idea, picking roles, and practicing Professor Flitwick's class run amuck. Some students were transformed into cats and gods, others into brooms (who tried to sweep Professor Flitwick into the corner), and one camper cast a spell that had the teen and adult volunteers dancing in the aisle. After that we did some activities - including learning a new, challenging song, making sorting hat fortune tellers and working with GIMP. We also saw a deer run through our campsite. Our campers ended the day by leaving our campsite better than we found it!
Bats 1 - Lavender Fwoopers
We had a fantastic last day at camp, even if it did rain most of the time. Our day started with the campers' skit show. There were a lot of laughs, and all the campers participated. Our swap plans were rained out, but we were fine thanks to the imaginations of our girls who spent the day creating their own games and playing around the camp site. We ended our day with an impromptu Taylor Swift singalong at the amphitheater. The Lavender Fwoopers are an amazing group of scouts, and we can't wait to see them all again next summer!
Bats 2 - Blue Morpho Butterflies
We had a great last day of camp! All the girls did amazing at the skit show, performing their lines and loving the sing-along. We crammed in some last crafts and games at Blueberry Hill, even using the rain as an element in some of our crafts (ask if they brought home any of the tissue paper rain art)! We made bubble paint pygmy puffs, then played a few final games before we headed out after a fantastic week. Thanks for camping with us, Blue Morphos!
Bats 3 - Chocolate Frogs
The rain did not dampen the Chocolate Frogs' spirits today! They started off with their reenactment of the Leave No Trace Principles. The girls did beautifully and really showed how creative they were. Then they traded their SWAPS with the other units at the flagpole. After lunch, the Choc. Frogs did an assortment of crafts, including beads, keychains, and bracelets. It was a great way to end the day, (especially with this rainy weather) and we can't wait to see everyone next year!
Sunrays 1 - Purple Potions
Our last day at camp started off with the talent show at Firefly Lodge, where we wrapped up the show with our skit. Then we spent some time hanging out with the Catapults, and shared our edible wands with them, before we headed down for the SWAP meet. Scabbers is a very sneaky rat, and he apparently managed to sneak out one last time, but we found and captured him again as we walked up to Firefly Lodge, where we hung out for the rest of our day while creating sticker sheets and playing some games. We hope to see everyone back next year!
Sunrays 2 - Red Dragons
We had an awesome final day at camp! Everyone worked hard and performed their skit at Firefly Lodge in the morning. Bravo all! The rain did not stop us as we swapped all of our swaps by the flagpole. We ended the day with making an all-time favorite - a sit-upon craft. We're confident to say that everyone is a happy camper! Especially in this cooler temperature.
Sunrays 3 - Green Griffins
The Green Griffins have had a fabulous week at camp! We performed a brilliant skit and loved watching all the other units perform. We had a soggy great time trading swaps and then made swap holders featuring our mascot. Finally, we were so excited to be performing the closing ceremony. See you next year!
Rangers - Pastel Pink Power Rangers
Today, we had lots of fun performing our skit at Firefly Lodge and getting messy in the peanut butter pit. After that, we had a quick lunch and played some games, then headed on to play capture the flag with shaving cream. Finally, we ended the day by having the annual staff and camper water balloon fight.
Pixies - Orange Owls
The Pixies had a great last day of camp! We had so much fun performing and watching everyone's skits and doing our SWAP meet. After we did our activities with all of camp, we went back to our unit and made a few crafts. Then, we helped our grown-ups clean our unit so that we could go on our nature scavenger hunt! We had an amazing week at camp and can't wait for next year! Bye-bye Crossroads!
