Broom with Sparkles

The Daily Prophet & Magical Happenings - July 8th, 2024

Instructions from Science Center for Care of Herbology Orbs:

Store in a cool dry place. Remember: the seeds will start sprouting when they get wet. Throw in your own yard before rain. (Note: It works best if you hold on to it till the following spring.) Then watch them grow!

Instructions for Tie Dye:

Please wait to remove the Tie Dyed item from the bag until the following day, so that the dye can set in. Using gloves, rinse the item, then remove the rubber bands and wash the item in cold water separately-- do NOT put it in the wash with other clothing/items.

Catapults - Hot Pink Hippogriffs

Today, the Hot Pink Hippogriffs started our day by making dragon snot with science! Afterwards, we went over to outdoor skills and had a relay race of putting up and taking down tents. Everyone was rewarded with a s'more! Once we finished that, we sang all the way back to our unit where we worked on our first craft of chocolate frogs and our swaps of mini Harry Potter books. We relaxed around and had lunch and finished up the day playing quidditch and parachute! Had a fantastic day today, so excited to see our hippogriffs tomorrow!

Tornado 1 - Green Frogs

The Green Frogs had an amazing 1st fun filled day at camp. Our lime green frogs enjoyed playing a Would You Rather Harry Potter game, making “Dragon Snot”, getting a pet dragon, playing quidditch and making gimp and Tie Dyed canvas bags. Pease wait to remove the bag until tomorrow so the dye can set in. Using gloves, rinse the item, remove the rubber bands and wash in cold water separately. We will wait to pass out our camp shirts until Wednesday, so we will all have them for our photo on Wednesday morning. We are excited for tomorrow when everyone is invited to dress like their favorite Harry Potter character.

Unit Chant! 1-2-3 We are the green frogs! Ribbit, hop, repeat.

Tornado 2 - Turquoise Storm Clouds

The Turquoise Storm Clouds had the BEST first day of camp! Everyone wore our group color so it was easy for us to find each other. We found our names on storm clouds at camp, and then we learned each others' names with a fun picnic game. Next we got to tie-dye hats and shirts and socks! We played quidditch at songs and games and had a lot of fun. After lunch we had a cold sweet treat! To finish the day we got to lead the whole camp for closing flag ceremony. We are excited for day two!

Bats 1 - Lavender Fwoopers

The Lavender Fwoopers had a fantastic day at camp today despite the humid hot conditions! They did a Herbology course for Science that they particularly enjoyed. The instructions for the herbology seed experiment are as follows: “Store in a cool dry place. The seeds will start sprouting when they get wet. Throw in your own yard before rain (It works best if you hold onto this till the following spring). Then watch them grow!” They also did a fun challenge course that they all worked together to complete. They made snacks and did crafts as well. They are all looking forward to the tie dye which will be tomorrow (July 9th, 2024). We made a mistake thinking our tie dye was today so please, please have the girls bring their white t-shirts tomorrow.

Bats 2 - Blue Morpho Butterflies

The Blue Morphos had an amazing first day of camp! We warmed up with some magic fortune tellers, and then hit the ground running with an archery session with Hedwig, Amp, and Ladybug, and then decorated our campsite and made biffy sniffers. After lunch, we headed down the hill to take our group photo, practice emergency safety, and tie-dye. We finished out the afternoon decorating beautiful tote bags and immersing ourselves in herbology spheres and dragonology at the science station.

Proper care of your herbology orbs: store them in a cool, dry place; with permission, toss outside in a garden space before rainfall or watering, and watch them grow—the flowers are perennials.

Camp shirts came home today—be sure to wear them on Wednesday!

Bats 3 - Chocolate Frogs

The Chocolate Frogs had an awesome first day of camp! They had a blast at Songs and Games and were excellent archers. The Chocolate Frogs also did tie-dye and made beautiful bags at the Arts and Crafts station. Today was great and they can't wait for the adventures that they will enjoy tomorrow.

Sunrays 1 - Purple Potions

The Purple Potions had a marvelous first day! They started off the day at our challenge course and later decorated tote bags at crafts. They also visited the archery station where they learned basic archery skills and shot slingshots! The day was so eventful that they also made trail mix, decorated our now beautiful Biffys, and made their own scented Biffy Sniffys! We are looking forward to another great day tomorrow!

Sunrays 2 - Red Dragons

The Red Dragons had an amazing first day! They started off making personalized bags at Arts and Crafts, and Herbology Orbs at potions. To use the orb, keep it in a cool, dry, and preferably dark place, then with permission toss it into the lawn before it rains! This will plant perennial flowers that will grow back each year.

Please remember to bring shirts to Tie Dye tomorrow (double bagged) and dress up like your favorite Harry Potter Character (with a change of weather appropriate clothes if necessary).

Sunrays 3 - Green Griffins

The Green Griffins had a spectacular first day at camp today! We started our morning off with Outdoor Skills and Crafts, with a full afternoon of Challenge Course and Science! We had a great day today and are ecstatic for Archery and Tie-Dye tomorrow.

Rangers - Pastel Pink Power Rangers

The Rangers had a great first day today! We started out by hiking up to our homebase at Eagle's Nest and played games. Then we made our way to the sports field for Archery and slingshots. Then we ate lunch and went to Outdoor Skills and learned how to set up tents and learned fire safety and made smores. Finally, we headed back to the sports field to play Quidditch. Excited for a fun week!

Pixies - Orange Owls

We had an awesome first day at camp today! First, we made matching owl headbands, and then we headed down to Songs and Games to do some fun sports. After that we made orange owl lanterns and painted lots of things with the Crafts station. Then we got a yummy ice cream treat and walked down to Outdoor Skills where we made s'mores. Finally, we made another owl craft with yarn. We are all super excited for the rest of the week!
