The Daily Prophet Wednesday 2026
The Daily Prophet & Magical Happenings - July 15th, 2026
Tomorrow is Animagus Day! Come with animal accessories or an animal costume with change of clothes so you don't overheat!
Sit-Upons!
Wondering what the green buckets that came home from camp are used for? Great Question! The campers are decorating a bucket that can specifically handle even adults sitting on them when the lid is secured. They are perfect to take to any outing (including at camp!) as they can store items and also serve as a portable seat. Sit-Upons have a place in Girl Scout tradition with many versions that have been used over the years. What trip or outdoor event does your camper plan to bring their AMAZING Sit-Upon to?
Instructions from Tie Dye:
Please wait to remove the tie-dyed item from the bag until the following day, so the dye can set in. Using gloves, rinse the item, then remove the rubber bands and wash the item in cold water - separately – do NOT put it in the wash with other clothing/items.
Catapults – Pink Porlocks
The Pink Porlocks had a busy day today! We went right to sports and games to play some quidditch. We then learned about the teen recognition program, which is a prerequisite for the Gold Award, that the campers have the opportunity to complete while at camp in the future! A group photo was taken (which your campers will receive with their patch at the end of the week) and we began our phoenix craft. After lunch, the Catapults got to see (and touch!) real reptiles before getting Sno-Cones to cool off. Afterwards, we stayed in the shade of our unit continuing our crafts. Tomorrow is Animagus day, so dress as your favorite animal, and make sure to bring a cool change of clothes. Also, your camper's tie-dye can be washed tonight, and you can refer to the instructions above to ensure it turns out perfect.
Tornado 1 – Red Firedrakes
The Red Firedrakes had a very busy day today filled with LOTS of treats. We first went to our unit pavilion to drop off our things and start a craft! We made dragon eyes with air-dry clay and fake plastic eyes. We then headed over for some early morning ice cream! We had various toppings that we got to choose from and made our own sundaes! Afterwards, we made our way over to arts and crafts! We decorated some sit-upons (buckets with a lid) with stickers, stencils, and paint markers. These buckets are multi-functional, helping store stuff, but more importantly, to sit on as a seat! After crafts we headed over to our unit to grab some lunch and finish up crafts we left undone. We then walked over to the reptile program to see some super cool lizards, tortoises, snakes, tarantulas, toads, and scorpions. We had the chance to touch some of these cute scaly friends! To cool off (and get another treat!), we made our way over to stand in the shade while we waited in line for Anita's Frozen Ice! Right after finishing up with the snow cones, we walked down to science and had some fun making lava lamps and more! Please make sure to BRING WATER!! We did an excellent job staying hydrated and staying in the shade today, so we would like to continue that! Please make sure you arrive with your lunches and snacks as well! Tomorrow is Animagus Day, so make sure to come dressed in your animal attire! See you tomorrow and keep hydrated!
Tornado 2 – Blue Dragons
We had a great day today! To start off, we did some super cool experiments in science. After that, we tried our hand at cooking quesadillas with buddy burners! Once we finished our food, we got to go to the amphitheater to watch a reptile show! We saw tons of unique animals, including snakes, a scorpion, a tarantula, and a centipede! Afterwards, we cooled off with snow cones and did one more craft. See you tomorrow, remember to hydrate!
Bats 1 – Yellow Fruits
The Yellow Fruits had an exciting day at camp! We started off with a hike and looked for clues to find watermelon! Next we cooled off with a water fight with Bats 2. We got to touch some slimy reptiles and ate yummy snow cones! Finally we made some cute mirrors and decorated sit-a-pons!
Bats 2 – Blue Basilisks
The Blue Basilisks started our day by using clues to find our missing watermelons. We successfully battled with bats 1 in the water war!! After we headed back to the unit for lunch, we got to touch a few different reptiles with the reptile show! We cooled off with some snow cones, started making our swaps and ended the day at crafts where we decorated our sit-upons. Tomorrow we our getting our sugar on with ice cream and smores at outdoor skills!
Sunrays 1 – Purple Princesses
The Purple Princesses started our day off at challenge course, getting to play games and fly before the heat set in. We also enjoyed cooling down with snow cones after a reptile show. Tomorrow we are planning on playing water games so please make sure to send your camper with a change of clothes for after (swimsuits are not necessary please send your camper in proper attire and shoes). With water games and ice cream tomorrow we should be staying cool all day!
Sunrays 2 – Mischievous Marigolds
The Mischievous Marigolds survived the heat today! We enjoyed the reptile show, had snow cones and s'mores and made some cool sit-upons. We began our marigold swaps for Friday and cooled off with some water squirters. We're looking forward to a great rest of the week and lots more fun. See you tomorrow!
Sunrays 3 – Minty Mermaids
The Minty Mermaids continue swimming right along through camp! Today we made new reptile friends and cooled off with delicious snow cones. We made sit-upons in crafts that we can use to store all of our camp supplies. We built beautiful beaded windchimes and finished off the day strengthening our team building skills at the challenge course. See you tomorrow! (Note: We will be having water play on Thursday so please bring a change of clothes!)
Rangers
The Rangers began the day leading the morning flag ceremony. We then headed up to archery where we spent the morning shooting arrows, using slingshots and a few of the older rangers were able to throw tomahawks. We then walked over to the animal show, and everybody got to pet a legless lizard, which was super cool! Next, we went to the shaved ice truck and hung out with the pixies for a while. We then hiked up to eagles' nest where we played some games and made slime. And we were lucky enough to find Scabbers in one of the cabins and end the day with ice cream!
Pixies – All Powerful Pixies
The Pixies started their day off by playing with playdough. After that they watched a reptile show and got to pet a lizard! To cool off from the heat they ate snow cones and then had lunch after that. They made delicious pretzel wands by rolling pretzels in frosting and adding sprinkles to it. They decided to blow off their energy and end the day with playing hair salon and pretending they were at a concert!
