Camp Crossroads

FAQ - Boys & Pixies

Broom with Sparkles

This sounds like a great camp! How do I enroll my son?

That's easy! Become a full-time adult staff volunteer and your son can accompany you to camp each day! But on any days you miss camp, your son has to stay home with you.

What do I do with my "non-Girl Scout" children if I become a staff member?

Camp Crossroads offers a Pixie Unit for potty-trained pre-schoolers and a Boys Unit for boys. These units are open only to the children of our full-time adult staff volunteers while they are on camp property.

What is the Boys Unit?

The boys of our full-time adult staff volunteers participate in many of same activities as the girls but tailored to their interests. For instance, we select special craft projects for the boys. The personality of the unit changes slightly each year and that is dependent on the ages of the boys who attend. Our youngest boys are 6 and have finished Kindergarten. Our oldest boys have been as old as 12. Boys may attend Camp Crossroads through the summer after 6th grade.

What is the Pixie Unit?

We have a co-ed "Pixie Unit" for the pre-schoolers. Pixies must be potty-trained and willing to spend the day in the Pixie Unit. The Pixies do many of the same activities tailored to their interests and attention spans.

Is there a fee for the boys or pixies?

There may be a nominal fee to offset related expenses.
